Crude steel: German production decreased by 5.3% in the first half year

In June this year, crude steel production in Germany fell by 8.4% year-on-year to 2.92 million tonnes, according to information from the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the period from January to June this year, crude steel production in Germany fell by 5.3% year-on-year to 18.53 million tonnes.

Pig iron production in Germany amounted to 1.91 million tonnes in June this year, down 0.8%, while in the January-June period it fell 0.6% to 12.16 million tonnes, both year-on-year.

The country’s hot-rolled steel production decreased 4.4% to 2.60 million tonnes in June, while it fell 5.7% to 16.23 million tonnes in the first six months of this year, both compared to the same periods last year.
