Aluminium: world production down in January

After December 2021’s highs at 5.622 mln tons, January 2022 triggered a decline in global aluminum production to 5.513 mln tons. The cumulative January to December 2021 stood at 67.28 mln tons compared to 65.327 mln tons in the same period last year (+2.98%).

Year-on-year change: -3.40% the lowest since February 2018

CHINA PRODUCTION
Quantity: 3.1 million tons
Monthly change: -2.88%.
Year-on-year change: -6.06%.

PRODUCTION WEST & CENTRAL EUROPE

Quantity: 262 thousand tons close to the lows of a year ago (259 thousand tons – production lows since 2011)
Monthly change: -5,76%.
Year-on-year change: -8,07%.

PRODUCTION RUSSIA & EASTERN EUROPE

Quantity: 349 thousand tons
Monthly change: -0,57%.
Year-on-year change: -1,13%.
