Chile’s state copper commission Cochilco said Codelco, the world’s largest copper miner, increased its output by 14.9% year-on-year to 151,600 tonnes in June.

BHP’s Escondida, the world’s largest copper mine, saw output fall 21.6% year-on-year to 82,900 tonnes in the same month while production at Collahuasi copper mine, a joint venture of Glencore and Anglo American, fell 6.7% year-on-year to 53,900 tonnes in June.

Escondida curtailed some operations after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and the imposition of restrictions, including a reduction in cathode production, resulting in 11 consecutive months of declining output.

The country’s total production increased 2.3% year-on-year in June to 477,300 tonnes.
